London Restaurant Openings
Here's a random collection of information on London restaurant openings...know of any I've missed? Please share details! (Last updated 26 March 2008)
ViewLondon.co.uk reports that the Chicago Rib Shack is opening in Knightsbridge in early May.
Squaremeal.co.uk and the Metro report that Gilgamesh's owners are planning on opening a African-themed restaurant downstairs called Zulu.
SquareMeal.co.uk is also reporting that the former home of Ristorante Fiore in St James's Street will become Brasserie Saint Jacques later this year.
Richard Vines reports that Alan Yau has a lot of irons in the fire: Mr. Yau is set to open two branches of the Szechuan-themed ChaCha Moon in March. Other sources report that one will be in Soho and the other in Bayswater. Vines also reports that Yau is set to opn an Italian bakery called Princi on London's Wardour Street in June, and a Northern Chinese restaurant (think Peking duck) called Hakka Berkeley across from you-know-where.
The Independent reports that Ramsay's "Plane Food" is set to open in March in Heathrow's Terminal 5. Totally unrelated to Mr. Ramsay, the article also notes the planned opening of the Calabrian L'Anima, which was set to open in February, but I haven't heard anything so I'm guessing it will be soon.
Zagat's reports that St. John's Wood will become the home of Italian eatery, Osteria Stecca, in March. Zagat's also reports that Apsleys is set to open in the Lanesborough in April, and that Maze is soon to have an offshoot, Maze Grill.
Angela Hartnett will be heading up the restaurant at the York and Albany Hotel, according to Caterer Search. This is scheduled to open in May. Gordon proves a busy man in 2008 with the additional opening of Murano, an upscale Italian. (It probably would have been good if I had done one paragraph all about Gordon, but I am not that organized.)
Mark Hix is set to open the Oyster & Chop House in Smithfield Market in May, according to Harden's. (According to Caterer Search.)
Megu, an upscale Japanese restaurant is to open in Berkeley Square later this year, according to Harden's. (Berkeley Square is going to be a busy place.)
